Ioumoulicou

Résumé

Since long years, the archaeologists have analyzed the migrations link to the pre-Columbian settlement of the Antillean archipelago. On an other hand, the researches about the origins of the raw materials have demonstrated the importance of the inter-insular exchanges, exchanges not only of material elements but even of concepts and persons. This is those relations who permitted the development of real Antillean civilizations. Sadly, the off shore canoe, real civilizational tool, and the different aspects link to is utilization have been frequently absent of the discussion or only analyzed from a theoretical point of view by the meaning of modelization tries. The "Ioumoúlicou" project we will present now is an experimental archaeological program dedicated to the study of the pre-Columbian navigation conditions and techniques. Those works realized in a scientifically controlled frame completed by a canoe hydrostatic parameters analysis, gave us the possibility to obtain totally original data. Those data give us an opportunity to refund our vision of the relation of the pre-Columbian peoples with the archipelagic Antillean space.
